Executive Welcome

ADCOME transcends its mission through enabling young people and communities in developing countries realize their full potential through e-world inclusion, to shape the e-readiness capacity of Africa. We primarily fulfill our mission by promoting sustainable development in communities through Bridging IT and Education, with a complementary impact on leadership and entrepreneurial skills development for young people. Another way we fulfill our mission is through initiating, promoting and facilitate the implementation of Corporate Socially Responsible initiatives for different corporate investors, in view of helping underprivileged communities drive and meet up with minimum standards to compete in today´s global economy.

Our organization´s greatest strengths are our employees´ passion, creativity and commitment, and our strong partnerships with IT industry leaders (multinationals) and in-country private, public and community organizations. Our employee stream is essentially youth driven with 90% of employees below the age of 35, drawn from diverse background and culture. Our people and partnerships propel innovation at ADCOME, and also guide our sustainable community development initiatives in different communities.

A few years ago, we set a goal that; we would help bring the benefits of Information Technology to 50 schools in rural communities by 2009. We recognize that we cannot do this alone. That´s why our two flagship digital inclusion programs – MTN School Connectivity Program and the ICT & Rural Entrepreneurship Program – build on the strength of partnerships with local governments, schools, nongovernmental organizations, and community organizations. Working together, we are bringing valuable technology skills to teachers, students, and others —more than 35 schools in 29 communities so far, putting us more than halfway to our goal.

Our focus to increase the capacity of young people who will be fighters of the digital age of Africa is driven through the ADCOME IT Academy that supports Advanced IT Certification and Community Technology Skills Programs. The IT Academy is a milestone for a Technology University that is built on partnerships with IT industry leaders and other Universities.

We are constantly expanding our understanding of what we must do for an effective e-readiness capacity in Africa and e-inclusion in most African communities, and to be a good leader and a responsible civil organization. We are always seeking new ways to put partnerships and innovation to work to really make a difference. Our community development efforts represent our mission and values in action, and they underscore how creativity and a spirit of innovation can make a difference, not only through the IT products and services we deliver, but also in the way feedback is received from the different communities in which we have created impact.

Working together with our many partners to solve challenging problems in different communities, we are optimistic that ADCOME can continue to help make positive and lasting contributions to the African society.
